Micah Truax Wins BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week for Second Time this
Season
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (May 5, 2008) - The BIG EAST Conference
announced Monday that University of Connecticut softball junior
Micah Truax (South Glen Falls, N.Y.) has been named BIG EAST
Player of the Week. This is the second time she has been honored
this season, as she was also named Player of the Week on April 14.
Truax was a perfect 6-for-6 in the Huskies two games the previous week, both
wins over Louisville on Saturday. She also had a walk for a 1.000 on base
percentage for the week. Her totals included two RBI, one run scored and two
stolen bases. She also had four catches out in centerfield, with a couple of
them being very tricky ones that robbed the Cardinal batters' of doubles.
Truax, who is the defending BIG EAST Player of the Year is hitting .354 on the
season with seven home runs and 23 RBI. She has hit safely in 22 of the last 27
games. The University of Connecticut softball team has earned the third seed
in the upcoming BIG EAST tournament May 8-10 in Louisville, Ky. They will face
sixth seeded Syracuse in the quarterfinals on Thursday, May 8 at 10:00 a.m. |
