Women's Tennis Defeats Cleveland
State, 5-2
ORLANDO, Fla. (March 10, 2008) - The University of Connecticut women's
tennis team defeated Cleveland State, 5-2, Monday afternoon in its first of
three spring break matches. The Huskies
are now 2-2 on the season.
UConn started out the day by taking two of three doubles matches to go up 1-0
before moving into singles action. After Cleveland State won the no. 1 singles
match, the Huskies swept flights two through five to earn enough for the win.
Emily Herb (Cherry Hill, N.J.) defeated Jackie Tabb, 6-3, 6-3, in the no.
2 spot before BreAnn Cheung (Tucson, Ariz.) bested Jenn Myers, 6-2, 6-4,
in flight three. Jessica Porter (Duluth, Ga.) and Ali Campitiello
(Staten Island, N.Y.) wrapped the Huskies' run with victories at nos. 4 and 5.
The Huskies return to action Tuesday against Valparaiso at noon.
