BOSTON, Mass. (March 5, 2006) - The University of Connecticut woman’s track team took seventh place out of 48 teams in the ECAC Championships on Sunday afternoon at the Reggie Lewis Track in Boston.  This was the team's third-best finish in 12 years.  The team was led by freshman Jessica Foreman (Wayland, Mass.) who scored in two events for the Huskies.  This was the last meet of the indoor season for the Huskies.

Foreman competed in the 60-meter dash and the 200 at the ECACs.  She finished in second place in the 60 with a time of 7.55.  In the 200, Foreman finished in fourth place with a time of 24.67.  Also competing in the 200 was classmate Alyssa Evering (Bel Air, Md.).  She took seventh place, running it in 24.67.

In the 400, freshman Mandela Graves-Fulgham (Shutesbury, Mass.) placed fifth with a personal best of 55.96, beating her last time by over .27 second.  Her time also puts her in the record books as second-best all-time.

The team took eighth in the 4x400 relay run by junior Jennifer Rogers (Parksville, B.C.), Tamara Highsmith (East Haven, Conn.), Evering and Graves-Fulgham.

In the first day of competition, Highsmith took second place in the pentathlon with 3,708 points, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships.  Her performance was the school's fourth-best pentathlon score in program history.

The NCAA Championships will be the next event for some Husky team members.  It will be held on March 11 and 12 in Fayetteville, Ark.  Following the NCAAs, the Huskies will next compete at the Miami Invitational on March 18 for the first meet of the outdoor season.
