McMillian Continues to Lead Huskies

Sophomore Tynisha McMillian (Bridgeport,
Conn.) took first in the discus with a winning mark of 47.63m (156-3) as she led
the University of Connecticut women's track and field in the first day of
competition at the Penn Relays on Thursday.
McMillian's mark is a personal best on the season while also being the
fourth-best finish on the program's all-time performance list. Her 46.58 throw
also moves her up to fourth on the BIG EAST performance list in the discus as
she beat out her previous mark of 47.50.
The Huskies' 4x100 relay team, combining the efforts of Monique Hodges
(Wethersfield, Conn.), Trisha-Ann Hawthorne (Elmsford, Conn.),
Phylicia George (Markham, Ont.) and Alyssa Evering (Bel Air, Md.),
will compete later today after taking second place in their heat on Thursday
afternoon. The relay's finishing time of 45.60 marks a season-best finish and
the fourth all-time finish in the 4x100 relay on UConn's all-time performance
list.
UConn will continue competition on Friday at the Penn Relays before traveling
back to Providence, R.I. for the Brown Invitational on Sunday, April 27.
