Women's Track and Field Records Best
Penn Relays Performance In Program History
PHILADELPHIA, Pa.

- The 4x200 relay team recorded a new UConn program record with a time of 1:35.22 to lead the
University of Connecticut women's track and field
team to the most successful Penn Relays in program history this weekend.
The combined efforts of Trisha-Ann Hawthorne (Elmsford, Conn.),
Phylicia George (Markham, Ont.), Alyssa Evering (Bel Air, Md.) and
Mandela Graves-Fulgham (Shutesbury, Mass.) recorded the best time in
school history in the 4x200 relay. In Saturday's finals, the 4x200 team took
sixth with a time of 1:36.36.
The Huskies' 4x100 relay team,
Monique Hodges (Wethersfield, Conn.), Hawthorne, George and Evering,
finished with a time of 45.03 in Friday's competition, marking a school record
finish as well as an NCAA Regional qualifying mark.
Sophomore Tynisha McMillian's 47.63m (156-3) mark for a first
place finish in the college discus throw was a personal record while also being
the fourth-best finish on the program's all-time performance list. Her throw
also moves her up to fourth on the BIG EAST performance list in the discus as
she beat out her previous mark of 47.50.
Hawthorne finished the 100m dash with a time of 12.06 as her teammates in the
4x400 relay took third place at 3:44.61. Senior Tamara Highsmith (East
Haven, Conn.) finished the triple jump in fifth place with a final mark of 12.91 (43-4.25) as
Carin Knight took second in the high jump with a stellar performance of 1.79
(5-10.50).
