Chambers Surpasses 1,000-kill Mark in 3-2 Win Over Arkansas

Senior Sadé Chambers (Baldwinsville,
N.Y.)
reached the 1,000-kill mark during her last collegiate contest as
she recorded 25 kills to lead the University of Connecticut women's
volleyball team past Arkansas 3-2 (32-30, 29-31, 25-30, 30-27,
15-11) on Saturday afternoon.
Chambers led the Huskies with 25 kills while hitting a .203 percentage to finish
her career at UConn with 1,011 kills in four years. The senior
tallied 368 kills this season to lead her team to a 19-11 overall
record.
The Huskies made this non-conference match a battle to the finish as
they took the first game 32-30 before losing the next two 29-31 and
25-30. The Huskies took the last two games in back-to-back close
finishes but pulled away in the end.
Connecticut stepped up their offensive play in the final two games of
the match, recording a .417 and a .421 hitting percentage to
overpower the Arkansas defense.
Four Huskies finished the match in double-digit kills, led by
Chambers. Senior Gina Heiderman (Niles, Ill.) tallied 16
kills while hitting .333 for UConn in her final collegiate match as
a Husky. Sophomore Kate Seabaugh (St. Louis, Mo.) finished
the match with 12 kills and 14 digs while freshman Lauren
Lamberti (Cary, Ill.) tallied 14 kills while hitting a team-high
.387 and picking up four blocks.
Sophomore setter Bridget Denson-Dorman (Golden Valley, Minn.)
dished out 65 assists and recorded a season-high 21 digs in the win
while UConn libero Jessica Isaac (Erlanger, Ky.) tallied her
own season-high of 31 digs in the five-game season finale.
Arkansas was led by Jessica Dorrell with 20 kills and nine digs in the
loss, as the Lady Razorbacks fall to 12-19 overall.
UConn will finish the 2007 season with a 19-11 overall record,
mirroring the program's ending result just a year ago.
