Offensive Graduate Assistant

A former Husky running back, Jon Wholley begins his third season as UConn’s offensive graduate assistant coach. In this role, he coordinates the defensive scout team and analyzes game films of UConn’s opponents. In UConn’s brief time as a Division I-A level program, Wholley is the third former Husky player to also serve the team as a graduate assistant, joining former GAs Joe Villapiano and Jeff Larson.

Wholley spent the 2005 season as an offensive assistant at Central Connecticut working with the Blue Devils’ offense and the tight ends in particular. He went to New Britain after completing his Husky career in 2004, earning his lone varsity letter that season after appearing in five games. Wholley came to UConn as a walk-on but earned a scholarship through his hard work. He played in a total of 12 games at UConn after transferring from Wagner College, where he played in all but two games as a freshman in 2000. Prior to UConn, he was an All-Conference and All-Hartford Courant pick as he led Southington High School to the state championship as a junior in 1998.

A native of Southington, Conn., Wholley earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from UConn in December of 2004. He is presently pursuing a master’s degree in sports management from UConn. Wholley resides in Mansfield, Conn.
