Co-captain ... worked hard over the summer on full swing fundamentals ... made great changes that will improve his scoring ... continues to work on his short game ... qualified for the 2001 U.S. Public Link Championship in San Antonio, TX ... 2001 quarterfinalist in the Connecticut Sate Amateur Championship at Brooklawn Country Club ... transferred to Connecticut in the fall of 2000 from Mitchell College. Spring 2001: Played in all seven tournaments ... lowered his stroke average from the previous season to 79.5 ... shot his season-low round of 74 at the San Diego Invitational ... best finish of the season came at the Yale Invitational, where he finished 14th overall. Fall 2000: Competed in all five tournaments for the Huskies ... contributed immediately with a season stroke average of 79.9 ... helped the Huskies to a third-place showing at the Robert Morris Invitational finishing tied for 14th on the afternoon. Before UConn: a two-year letterwinner at Mitchell College, O’Connor was the individual champion at the NJCAA 2000 Division III National Championship ... earned 2000 All-American honors and was a two-time All-New England honoree. In High School: O’Connor was a four-year letterwinner at East Lyme High School under head coach Bob Meyer ... named to the All-Area team as a senior ... in 1997, was the individual medalist in both the Wildcat Invitational Tournament and the Fisher’s Island Tournament.
