Cox Sports Television To Televise Four Husky Events This Fall

STORRS, Conn. (September 3, 2008) - Four University of Connecticut sporting events will be televised by Cox Sports Television this fall as part of the ongoing partnership between Cox and UConn that began two years ago.

HOK Sport To Design Basketball Practice Facility

STORRS, Conn. (August 20, 2008) - The University of Connecticut Division of Athletics has hired HOK Sport, Inc. of Kansas City to coordinate architectural and design services for a new men’s and women’s basketball practice facility. HOK will also be developing plans for the proposed relocation of Joseph J. Morrone Stadium, the home of UConn men’s and women’s soccer.

Fairfield Country Sports Hall of Fame Inducts Giaquinto and Hunters

STAMFORD, Conn. (August 11, 2008) - The Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame inducted its latest class of honorees on June 21 in the Hall of Fame’s University of Connecticut wing, which pays tribute to athletes from the county that went on to stellar careers at the state university.

Installation Of New Turf Surface in Final Phases At George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex

STORRS, Conn. (August 1, 2008) - The summer improvements at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex continue to make progress. On Friday, Aug. 1, a new artificial turf surface was in the final phases of the installation process. Overall, the facility is getting a new playing surface and the track is also being refurbished.

Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame To Induct Giaquinto and Hunters

STAMFORD, Conn. (June 12, 2008) - The Fairfield County Sports Hall of Fame has announced its next class of honorees to be recognized in the Hall of Fame’s University of Connecticut wing, which pays tribute to athletes from the county that went on to stellar careers at the state university. Former UConn athletes to be feted at a Saturday, June 21 reception at 6 pm at the Hall of Fame are football’s Nick Giaquinto (Stratford) and men’s soccer stars Paul Hunter and Tim Hunter, brothers from Westport.
