A true senior who will serve as a team captain in 2008 as he hopes to maintain his starting role at defensive end.

 

Career: Appeared in 29 games with 20 starts at defensive end … Has 94 career tackles, 53 of them solo, with 29 tackles for loss and 13 sacks … Broken up five passes.

 

2007: Started all 13 games at defensive end … Led all defensive linemen with 50 tackles on the year, 35 of them solo, and led for the team lead with 16.5 tackles for loss … Was second on the team with 7.5 sacks while also breaking up three passes and recovering a fumble … Tied for fifth in the BIG EAST with his 16.5 TFLs and ranked ninth with the 7.5 sacks … Recorded three TFLs, including a sack, in the Meineke Car Care Bowl (Dec. 29) … Had a season-high seven tackles at West Virginia (Nov. 24) including a pair of TFLs … Earned the defensive game ball against USF (Oct. 27) after making four tackles, including a sack, and breaking up a pass … Made five tackles in each of three straight games against Temple (Sept. 15), Pittsburgh (Sept. 22) and Akron (Sept. 29) … Had two TFLs in each of the first three games of the season … Earned the defensive game ball against Duke (Sept. 1) after he made six tackles including two sacks.

 

2006: Started each of the first six games at defensive end before breaking his arm against Army (Oct. 14) and missing the rest of the season … Recorded 24 tackles, including 7.5 TFLs and 4.5 sacks in those six games … Had five tackles, two of them for a loss, in consecutive games against both Indiana (Sept. 23) and Navy (Sept. 30) … Earned the defensive game ball in the season opener against Rhode Island (Aug. 31) after making six tackles, including 1.5 sacks.

 

2005: Played in 10 games with one start (at Cincinnati on Oct. 15), missing only the season finale against Louisville (Dec. 3) … Became the first true freshman to start a game on either the offensive or defensive lines during UConn’s Division I-A era … Led all true freshmen with 20 tackles (10 solo), including five tackles for loss and one sack … Also broke up two passes and forced a fumble …  Assisted on two tackles, one of them for a loss, against Rutgers (Oct. 22) … Had a season-high six tackles at Cincinnati (Oct. 15), including a TFL and a PBU, as he started in place of Dan Davis …  Made two stops, one of them a solo TFL, against Syracuse (Oct. 7) … In just his second career game, he showed great promise by making four tackles, including 1.5 for loss and a sack, while also forcing a fumble against Liberty (Sept. 10) … Broke up a pass in his collegiate debut vs. Buffalo (Sept. 1).

 

High School: A team captain who made 88 tackles and had nine sacks as a senior … Named first team All-Broward County and honorable mention All-State … Played in the BCAA All-Star Classic on Dec. 4 and the Dade-Broward All-Star Game on Jan. 17 …  An honorable mention Sweet 16 selection by the Miami Herald … Helped Coral Springs to the 2003 district playoffs … Earned two letters in basketball, earning All-Broward County honors.
