Kris Bertsch is in his fourth year with the Connecticut men’s soccer staff as the team’s Director of Soccer Operations. In this role, he assists with team travel, promotions, Goal Patrol activities and plays an integral role in the annual Meet the Huskies Banquet. He also sells individual and group tickets to local youth soccer clubs around the state, in addition to performing a number of administrative and logistical duties in the UConn Soccer office.

Bertsch is also currently the Assistant Coaching Director of Northeast United, a premier soccer league in Connecticut, and coaches two teams in the club.

Prior to coming to UConn, Bertsch spent time at the United Soccer Academy, working as a coach and a member of the marketing department following a four-year career at American from 1999-2002.

Bertsch was a four-year starter for the Eagles, earning First Team All-Patriot League honors, as well as Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognition. He led American in goals and assists during the 2000 and 2001 seasons, guiding the squad to the 2001 Patriot League Championship and trips to the NCAA Tournament during both seasons.

He spent several seasons with FC Delco during club play, helping lead the team to the 1998 & 2000 US Youth Soccer National Titles and an appearance in the 1999 final game. In 2000, Bertsch received the Golden Boot Award, given to the leading scorer during the US Youth National Championship.

A native of Clinton, N.J., Bertsch played high school soccer at The Pingry School, where he was inducted into the school’s athletic Hall of Fame in June 2007. He graduated from American in 2003 with a degree in business administration and a concentration in marketing.
