Undergraduate Assistant Coach Museveni
Akanno

Akanno is beginning his first year as an undergraduate
assistant coach with the University of Connecticut, he’ll be graduating in the
spring with a degree in psychology. Prior to coaching he was a four-year
letterwinner for the Huskies competing mainly in the triple jump but also took
part in the long jump, high jump, hurdles, 100m and heptathlon. During his time
as an athlete at UConn, Akanno was a part of the Husky track teams that won
three Indoor BIG EAST Championships, as well as three New England Championships.
Akanno was named co-captain of the 2008 Outdoor track team
which placed second at the BIG EAST tournament. Akanno set the bar with his
48-11 triple jump as well as his 23-7¼ long jump during his 2007 season. His
2007 triple jump performance ranks as his career high. In 2008 he recorded a
career high in the long jump with a jump of 23-11¾.
Akanno is a graduate of Seton Hall Prep in West Orange,
N.J. where he was a captain of his team during his junior and senior years.
During high school he was a two-time Prep State Champion and earned All-County,
All-Parochial, All-Conference honors twice each as well as winning a State
Championship Indoors. |
