Jaime Totten returns to the UConn bench for her ninth season as assistant coach of the University of Connecticut women’s ice hockey program. Totten played for Connecticut head coach Heather Linstad at Northeastern and joined her former coach during the 2000-01 season to help create the foundation of the Division I program at UConn. Shortly after being named head coach, Linstad immediately hired Totten to be her top assistant.

"I knew building a program was going to be a very large task and I needed a hard working, conscientious person who would hit the ground running to secure top-notch talent," said Linstad. "As a former player, Jaime has a first hand knowledge of the type of student-athlete I am looking for. She does everything with a great passion. I knew she would be an outstanding coach and recruiter."

Since the program began in 2000, Totten has been the recruiting coordinator for the Huskies and the 2004-05 season marked the first season with four full recruiting classes on the team. In addition, she runs the defensive end of the bench, is in charge of video breakdown and handles the penalty kill.

In 2008, Totten served as the USA Women's National Under-22 assistant coach against Canada in a three-game series in August. In 2007, she was selected to work with the USA Hockey U-14 select camp in Rochester, N.Y. She has also coached the Select 16's and 17's at the Junior National Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y.

As an athlete, Totten was a mainstay in many of the USA Hockey Camps and Festivals. Her top honors came when she was selected for the 1995 Junior National Team and was the assistant captain. In addition, Jaime was a participant at the 1997 USA Festival, when the 1998 Olympic team was being selected.

Totten, a 2000 Northeastern graduate, never missed a game in her four years of playing for the Huskies. She earned All-America honors in both 1997-98 and 1998-99 while serving as a two-year captain. Totten also was selected as an ECAC First Team All-Star and was a member of the 1996-97 Northeastern team that won the ECAC Conference and finished the season with a school-record 27-9-0 mark. Totten’s outstanding leadership and sportsmanship qualities displayed both on and off the ice earned her the prestigious Sarah Devins Award from the ECAC her senior year.

During the 1999-2000 academic year, Totten served as student assistant coach of women’s ice hockey at her alma mater. Graduating with honors from Northeastern, Totten earned a bachelor’s degree in cardiopulmonary science with a concentration in exercise physiology. She was awarded with the National Student Athlete Award and was named a Scholar Student Athlete.

Totten is a native of Stafford, N.Y. and currently resides in Mansfield Center, Conn.

Assistant Coach Jaclyn Hawkins

Jaclyn Hawkins joins the UConn women's ice hockey coaching staff in 2008-09 for her first season as a collegiate coach. A 2008 University of Connecticut graduate, Hawkins moves from the ice to behind the bench after a successful four-year career with the Connecticut women's ice hockey program.

Hawkins served as a captain her senior and junior years, as well as an alternate captain her sophomore season. She led the Huskies with a program-high 27 assists this past season while adding 14 goals for 41 points. Hawkins currently leads the UConn program in career goals, assists and points as she finished her collegiate career with the Huskies earning a program-record 22 wins.

She also received the Hockey East's Sportsmanship Award in March as she became the only UConn women's ice hockey player to receive that honor. She also earned the right to be on the New England Hockey Writers Division I Women’s All-Star Team and was able to travel to Denver, Colo. for the 2008 Frozen Four Skills Challenge in April as she was selected for the event after a week of online voting followed by a committee selection.

In a total of 137 games with the Huskies, Hawkins contributed 144 points on 69 goals scored and 75 assists. As a junior, she led the Huskies with 18 goals, 18 assists and 36 points. As a sophomore she led the program in all three categories as well, including 12 goals, 15 assists and 27 points.

As a freshman, Hawkins was named Hockey East Rookie of the Year as well as U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) Rookie of the Year. With her successful start with the Huskies, she was also chosen for the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, USCHO All-Rookie Team and the Hockey East Second Team for her efforts. During the 2004-05 season, Hawkins made the Canadian Under-22 Development and Selection Camp as well.

Prior to joining the UConn staff, Hawkins spent time as a TEC-TAC International Hockey School instructor in Carleton Place, Ont. in both the summers of 2006 and 2007. She taught fundamental skills, including but not limited to, skating, puck handling and shooting, as well as concepts and sportsmanship characteristics.

A native of Manotick, Ont., Hawkins graduated from UConn with a bachelor's degree in sociology. She currently resides in Manchester, Conn.
