Women's Soccer Racks Up NEWISA All-New England Selections
STORRS, Conn. (December 17, 2008) - Five University of Connecticut women’s soccer team members have been named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England team. Senior Stephanie Labbe was named to the First Team and junior Lauren Ebert, senior Elizabeth Eng, sophomore Kacey Richards, and senior Brittany Tegeler were all named to the Second Team. Labbe was also named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Northeast Region Third Team.
Women's Soccer Will Have Three Participating In NEWISA Senior Bowl
STORRS, Conn. (November 22, 2008) - Three seniors on the women's soccer team will be participating in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl that will be held at Salem State College on December 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. Stephanie Labbe, Brittany Tegeler and Elizabeth Eng were all chosen with Eng tied among Midfielders as a top-vote getter. UConn was the only team to have three seniors named to play. Boston University has two players in the Bowl and one named as an alternate.
Labbe Nominated For Women's Soccer News Net Player Of The Year Award
ATLANTIC, Va. (November 20, 2008) - Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Labbe (Stony Plain, Alberta) has been nominated for the Women's Soccer News Net Player of the Year award following yet another stellar season as the University of Connecticut starting goalkeeper. Labbe has already been rewarded for her efforts this season as she took home the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Three Former Huskies Invited To Women's Professional Soccer Combine
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (November 19, 2008) - Three former members of the University of Connecticut women’s soccer team have been invited to the Women’s Professional Soccer league combine. Nikki Cross, Kristen Graczyk and Meghan Schnur will all be taking part in the WPS Combine before the 2009 WPS Draft.
Women’s Soccer Loses A 1-0 Heartbreaker In Overtime Against No. 1 Notre Dame
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (November 9, 2008) - After making it back to the Championship game of the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2004, the University of Connecticut women’s soccer team fell in overtime to the Fighting Irish of the University of Notre Dame, 1-0. The Huskies played 90 minutes of scoreless soccer against Notre Dame forcing them to their second overtime of the 2008 season, their first of the scoreless kind but were unable to hold off the Fighting Irish falling 1-0 during the first overtime period.
