XL Center: A-Z Fan Guide

ADA

  • Seating - ADA seating is issued on a first come, first served basis. If ADA seating is needed, please contact the UConn Athletics Ticket Office at 1-877-AT-UCONN (1-877-288-2666). This information can also be accessed by visiting uconntickets.com.

AED

An AED is located next to First Aid, behind Section 113, and at the Guest Services desk, behind Section 124.

Alcohol Policy

Any attempt to bring outside alcohol into the arena is a violation of facility regulations and may result in the guest being denied admittance, ejected, arrested, and/or tickets being revoked. Alcohol is available for purchase for individuals 21 and older inside the venue.

  • Intoxicated Guests - The XL Center reserves the right to deny entry or sale of alcohol to any guest that appears to be intoxicated. These individuals may be ejected from the venue and/or subject to legal action.

Animals

Animals are not permitted inside the XL Center with the exception of service animals and service animals in training. Animal relief areas are available and can be requested at Guest Services, located outside of Section 124. Guests with service animals may request accessible seating.

ATMs

ATMs can be found in the XL Center Atrium (the main entrance to the arena) or on the concourse, behind Section 101. ATMs can be found on the Arena Map.

Baby Changing Stations

Baby changing stations are located in every Women’s Restroom and the Family Restroom, located behind Section 108.

Bag Policy

All bags must adhere to the 12" x 6" x 12" approved bags policy and will be searched upon entry to the venue. For more information, please visit UConnHuskies.com/bagpolicy.

Binoculars

Guests are welcome to bring their own binoculars to events at the XL Center.

Cameras

Cameras with lenses that exceed three (3) inches or that have a removable lens are not permitted. Hand-held still cameras are allowed for personal use only and may not be used for advertising, promotions or other trade purposes, or any other commercial or promotional endeavor, without the permission of UConn Athletics.

Charging Stations

Phone charging stations are located in the XL Center Atrium, at the main entrance to the arena, by the Hartford Hockey display.

Child Ticket Policy

All persons over the age of 2 years old must have a ticket for admission.

Concessions

Full service concession stands are located throughout the concourse. Satellite stands are also available around the concourse. All major credit cards are accepted. Alcohol is available for purchase, for individuals 21 and older, inside the venue. For more information, please view the Arena Concessions Map.

Conference Code of Sportsmanship

The American Athletic Conference encourages and promotes good sportsmanship by student-athletes, coaches and spectators. We request your cooperation by supporting the participants and officials in a positive manner. Profanity, racial or ethnic comments, or other intimidating actions directed at officials, student-athletes, coaches or team representatives will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from the site of competition.

Directions

Directions to the XL Center on Google Maps

  • From Bradley International Airport - The XL Center is approximately 15 minutes driving time from the airport. Head Northwest on CT-20 West toward CT-75. Take the CT-75 exit toward Poquonock/Suffield. Turn left on CT-75 South. Turn right to merge onto CT-20 East towards Route I-91 for Springfield/Hartford. Take the exit onto I-91 South toward Hartford. Take exit 32A-32B for Trumbull Street.
  • From Campus (Storrs, CT) - The XL Center is approximately 30 minutes driving time from the UConn Storrs Campus. Head North on Route 195 for approx. 8 miles. Take a right onto the I-84 West ramp towards Springfield/Hartford. Take Exit 50 to merge onto US-44 West/Morgan C D Street towards I-91 South/Main Street. After three stoplights, take a left onto Trumbull Street. The XL Center will be on your right.
  • From Boston - The XL Center is approximately 1.5 hours driving time from Boston. From the Mass Pike, take I-84 West to Exit 50. Take Exit 50 to merge onto US-44 West/Morgan Street towards I-91 South/Main Street. After three stoplights, take a left onto Trumbull Street. The XL Center will be on your right.
  • From Providence - The XL Center is approximately 1.5 hours from Providence. From Route 295 take Exit 5-6, following the sings to Hartford. Take Route 6 West to Route 101 West to Route 44 West. Take a right onto Route 195 North. Head North on Route 195 for approx. 7 miles. Take a right onto the I-84 West ramp towards Springfield/Hartford. Take Exit 50 to merge onto US-44 West/Morgan Street towards I-91 South/Main Street. After three stoplights take a left onto Trumbull Street. The XL Center will be on your right.
  • From New York - The XL Center is approximately 1.5 hours to 2 hours from New York. Take I- 95 North to I-91 North. Take exit 32A-32B for Trumbull Street.

Drones

Drones are strictly prohibited from the venue.

Elevators

The elevator for Suite and Club ticket holders is located in the Atrium, the main entrance to the XL Center, behind the Husky Team Shop. An ADA accessible elevator is available to all patrons in need of assistance, upon request, to the Mezzanine Level, lower bowl, or floor seating. For access, please visit Guest Services, behind Section 124, or ask any member of the Guest Services team.

Emergency

In the event of an emergency, please notify the nearest police officer or event staff personnel or call 911.

  • Emergency Evacuation - In the event that UConn determines that it is necessary to evacuate the venue, an announcement will be made by the public address announcer, accompanied by a video board message, directing fans to proceed to the nearest exit.
  • Emergency Preparedness - Guests are encouraged to follow the emergency preparedness guidelines outlined below in the case of emergency.
    • During any emergency inside the arena, follow the directions of the public address announcer, event staff, and emergency responders.
    • Always designate a pre-determined location both inside and outside of XL Center to meet friends and family in case you are separated or in the event of an emergency.
    • Upon arriving at your seat location, find the nearest exit and locate an alternate exit in case of emergency.
    • If you see or become aware of any activity that is unusual, suspicious, or causes you concern, report the activity to the nearest police officer or event staff.
    • Emergency vehicles may be present in and around the arena. Please do not obstruct the path of travel of an emergency vehicle or interfere in any way with their operations. Vehicles blocking emergency vehicles, exits, or traffic are subject to tow at the owner's expense. Please do not obstruct any exits or exit pathways.
    • Monitor the weather prior to the game. Take the necessary precautions to protect your family and friends should severe weather occur before, during, or after the game.

Entry

All patrons must adhere to our bag policy and prohibited items. A complete bag policy and list of prohibited items list can be found at UConnHuskies.com/bagpolicy. For the safety of our fans, all patrons entering the venue will be subject to wanding by security personnel. Entry locations can be found on the Arena Map.

  • General Public Entrances - The main entrance is located inside the XL Center Atrium, on Trumbull Street and across from Pratt Street. Other entrances are located at the corner of Church Street and Ann Uccello Street and on Church Street, across from the Church Street Garage. All entrances to the inside of the arena open 60 minutes prior to puck-drop.
  • Media Entrance - Media will call is located in the XL Center Atrium outside the main entrance to the arena. All entrances to the inside of the arena open 60 minutes prior to puck-drop.
  • Student Entrances - UConn students can enter the XL Center through the Ann & Church Street entrance. All entrances to the inside of the arena open 60 minutes prior to puck-drop. Students must have a student ticket and valid UConn ID for entry.
  • UConn and Visiting Team Player-Guest Entrance - The UConn and Visiting Team Player-Guest entrances are located in the XL Center Atrium outside the main entrance to the arena. All individuals picking up a ticket must present a valid photo ID. All entrances to the inside of the arena open 60 minutes prior to puck-drop.
  • Sales and General Will Call - General public will call is located in the XL Center Atrium, on Trumbull Street and across from Pratt Street, at the Main Box Office at Window 9. All entrances to the inside of the arena open 60 minutes prior to puck-drop.

Fan Conduct

UConn and the NCAA promote good sportsmanship. UConn Athletics expects all guests to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner at all times before, during, and after the game. We anticipate all guests will treat other guests, student-athletes, coaches, and officials with courtesy and in a positive manner. Violators are subject to ejection and possible arrest. Repeated offenses will result in the loss of season or student ticket privileges.

  • Guests of UConn Athletics are expected to:
    • Be prepared to show ticket stubs when entering any assigned seating location.
    • Sit in assigned seats to avoid inconveniencing other guests.
    • Keep aisles clear at all times.
    • Refrain from entering the playing surface, throwing objects, using/displaying foul or abusive language and gestures, or any other actions that may prove hazardous
  • Guests should contact an event staff member if they feel someone around them is acting inappropriately. If you need assistance at a game:
    • Contact the nearest event staff member.
    • Call in and report your issue and location to the XL Center Fan Hotline at 860-293-6532 - message and data rates may apply

First Aid/EMS

A first aid station is located on the concourse behind Section 113. For any emergencies, Dial 911 or contact the nearest event staff or security personnel. The First Aid location can be found on the Arena Map.

Game Programs

Programs are available at the merchandise stands inside the XL Center Atrium, at the main entrance, on Trumbull Street and across from Pratt Street, and behind section 119, inside the Church Street entrance.

Guest Services

The XL Center Guest Services desk is located on the concourse behind Section 124. The guest services desk can be found on the Arena Map.

Junior Huskies Club

The UConn Junior Club is the Official Kids Club of the UConn Huskies. All kids, thirteen (13) and under, are eligible to register for the Junior Husky Club (due to NCAA rules). For more information or to become a member, please visit UConnHuskies.com or email juniorhusky@uconn.edu.

Lost & Found

During the event, please report any lost items or turn in any found items to the Guest Services desk, located behind Section 124. After the event, please contact the Security Department at 860-241-4232 if items were lost at the XL Center.

Lost Patrons/Children

Please contact the nearest event staff or law enforcement personnel immediately should a member of your party become separated or lost.

Lost Tickets

Lost tickets should be reported to the UConn Athletics Ticket Office. Contact the ticket office by email at athtickets@uconn.edu, by phone at 1-877-AT-UCONN (1-877-288-2666) (M-F, 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) or on gameday at the Agera Energy Ticket Office, located inside the XL Center Atrium (the main entrance), on Trumbull Street and across from Pratt Street. For weekday events, the Agera Energy Ticket Office opens at noon and will remain open one hour after game time. For weekend events, the Agera Energy Ticket Office opens four hours prior to game time.

Media

Media are encouraged to enter the XL Center through the main atrium entrance. Valid photo identification is required in order to pick up tickets or credentials left at the media will call table. Upon entry, bags will be searched and tagged upon approval. Only credentialed personnel are permitted into the designated media areas.

Merchandise

The HuskyMania Fan Shop is the official UConn team merchandise store at the XL Center. The shop is located in the XL Center Atrium, at the main entrance to the arena (on Trumbull Street and across from Pratt Street) and behind section 119 on the concourse, inside the Church Street entrance. The HuskyMania Fan Shop can be found on the Arena Map.

Parking

There are several indoor and outdoor parking locations throughout the downtown area, all within walking distance to the arena. For additional information, including pricing and locations, please visit hartfordparking.com.

Police

Hartford Law Enforcement are present on game days to ensure the safety of all student athletes, coaches, and spectators. In the event of an emergency, dial 911 or notify the nearest event staff personnel or police officer.

Prohibited Actions/Items

All guests are subject to search at game management’s discretion. All guests with prohibited items will be required to return any prohibited items to their vehicles. UConn reserves the right to deny anyone or anything from entering the arena.

  • The following actions are prohibited:
    • Smoking
    • Throwing or kicking objects in the seating areas
    • Unauthorized entry into the playing surface
    • Disorderly conduct (including the use of profanity or offensive language)
    • Standing or sitting in the aisles, ramps, or walkways
    • Ticket scalping (inside or outside the arena)
  • The following items are prohibited:
    • Alcoholic Beverages
      • Policy: Any attempt to bring alcohol into the venue is a violation of facility regulations and may result in the guest being denied admittance, ejected, arrested, and/or tickets revoked. Note that the “No Alcohol Perimeter” starts when you get in line.
      • Reason: UConn is committed to providing all fans with a safe, fun and enjoyable experience. Fans are encouraged report those in violation of this policy.
    • Animals (except Service Animals)
      • Policy: Animals are not permitted inside the XL Center, with the exception of service animals and service animals in training. Animal relief areas are available and can be requested at Guest Services, located outside of Section 124. Guests with service animals may request accessible seating.
      • Reason: UConn is committed to providing all fans with a safe, fun and enjoyable experience.
    • Artificial Noisemakers
      • Policy: Artificial noisemakers are not permitted inside the venue.
      • Reason: Artificial noisemakers are a disruption to players, officials, and other spectators. In order to provide all fans and student-athletes with the best possible experience, noisemakers are not allowed.
    • Audio and Video Recording Equipment
      • Policy: Audio and video recorders and recording equipment are strictly prohibited except for the working news media. Video images taken in the venue must be for personal use only and may not be used for advertising, promotions or other trade purposes, or any other commercial or promotional endeavor, without the permission of UConn.
      • Reason: UConn is obligated to protect the television and digital rights granted by the television networks and other media. By prohibiting video cameras, except for use by credentialed working media, UConn can best manage that obligation.
    • Bags Larger Than 12"X 6"X 12" and Backpacks
      • Policy: All bags are subject to search upon entry and are subject to additional searches within the stadium. Backpacks or oversized bags are not permitted. Purses/tote bags that are smaller than 12” x 6” x 12” will be permitted. Diaper bags are permitted in the company of a small child. Bags carrying medical needs will also be permitted and are subject to search by venue personnel. Bags for equipment and computers for those working the event, such as media, photographers, etc. are permitted and are subject to search upon entry into the venue.
      • Reason: National and local security officials have designated backpacks and large bags as security risks. Unattended bags create a security threat. Bags may not be left at the gates and will be confiscated, removed, and discarded immediately.
      • Recommendation: For overall safety and security, UConn recommends fans to reduce the need to bring bags into the venue – leave all unnecessary items at home/vehicle. Please use bags smaller than 12” x 6” x 12” (per person) for carrying personal items into the venue.
    • Balloons
      • Policy: Balloons are not permitted inside the venue.
      • Reason: UConn is committed to providing all fans with a safe, fun and enjoyable experience. Balloons may cause obstructed views and disruption to the facility and other spectators.
    • Banners, Posters, Signs
      • Policy: Management reserves the right to remove any signs or banners at any time. All signs must be handheld, event related, in good taste, and cannot obstruct another guest’s view. Signs may not contain commercial messages, logos, or political endorsements and may not obscure arena signage. Any signs determined to be obscene, vulgar, indecent, inappropriate, or derogatory will not be permitted, per Hockey East Policy. Signs or flags on sticks or poles are not permitted. Guests with unpermitted signs will be asked to return them to their vehicle or dispose of them upon entry.
      • Reason: Banners or poles in the venue can be a nuisance to other fans by obstructing their view of the game, and can create safety concerns for those in the area. Also, UConn must abide by its contractual agreements with corporate sponsors regarding signage in the venue.
    • Cameras
      • Policy: Cameras with lenses that exceed three (3) inches or that have a removable lens are not permitted. Hand-held still cameras are allowed for personal use only and may not be used for advertising, promotions or other trade purposes, or any other commercial or promotional endeavor, without the permission of UConn Athletics.
      • Reason: The sale of images with current student-athletes is against NCAA rules and can risk the eligibility of UConn student-athletes. Additionally, any commercial use of photos of the venue, campus landmarks or identifiable campus elements is prohibited without the prior written approval of the University.
    • Coolers, Cans, Glass Bottles, Flasks Or Any Outside Food And Beverage
      • Policy: Coolers, cans, glass bottles, flasks or any outside food and beverage are not permitted inside the venue.
      • Reason: UConn is obligated to abide by the contractual agreement with venue concessionaires. Full service and satellite concession stands are located throughout the concourse.
    • Drugs
      • Policy: In accordance with institutional, state and federal regulations, drugs are prohibited inside the venue.
    • Laptopa
      • Policy: Laptops are strictly prohibited, except for credentialed media.
      • Reason: UConn is obligated to protect the rights of credentialed working media and all data associated with the contest.
    • Laser Pointers
      • Policy: Laser pointers are not permitted inside the venue.
      • Reason: Laser pointers are a disruption to players, officials, and other spectators. In order to provide all fans and student-athletes with the best possible experience, laser pointers are not allowed.
    • Promotional Items with Commercial Identification Not Approved by UConn
      • Policy: UConn must abide by its contractual agreements with corporate sponsors regarding promotional items and signage in the venue. Guests with unpermitted signs will be asked to return them to their vehicle or dispose of them upon entry.
    • Umbrellas
      • Policy: Umbrellas are not permitted in the venue.
      • Reason: Umbrellas are a safety hazard and can be an obstruction of view for other spectators.
      • Recommendation: UConn strongly advises the use of ponchos or other wearable rain gear for inclement weather.
    • Smoking
      • Policy: Smoking, including e-cigarettes and vaporizers, is prohibited inside the venue. A smoking patio is located at the Ann Street doors behind Section 107 on the concourse.
      • Reason: UConn is committed to providing all fans with a safe, fun and enjoyable experience.
    • Weapons Of Any Kind (Including Concealed Carry)
      • Policy: In accordance with institutional, state and federal regulations, weapons are prohibited inside the venue.

Radios

Hand-held and pocked sized portable radios are allowed in the arena. Please be considerate of guests and use an earpiece to listen to your radio.

Re-Entry Policy

The XL Center is a “no re-entry” facility. Once your ticket has been scanned, it will no longer be valid for entry.

Restrooms

Restrooms are located throughout the concourse, all restrooms are ADA accessible. Men’s Restrooms are located behind Sections 101,104/105,113,117,233,230. Women’s Restrooms are located behind Sections 120/103,106,114,118,240,220. Baby changing stations are located in every Women’s Restroom and the Family Restroom (behind Section 108). Seating

The XL Center has an official seating capacity of 8,089 for ice hockey. Please click here to view seating charts for XL Center events. ADA seating is issued on a first come, first served basis. Security

Event Staff and Hartford law enforcement are present on game days to ensure the safety of all student athletes, coaches, and spectators. Event Staff can be identified by the neon yellow, white or grey shirts. Please notify the nearest event staff member if you have any questions or concerns throughout the game.

Signs/Banners/Posters

Management reserves the right to remove any signs or banners at any time. All signs must be handheld, event related, in good taste, and cannot obstruct another guest’s view. Signs may not contain commercial messages, logos, or political endorsements and may not obscure arena signage. Smoking Policy

Smoking (including e-cigarettes and vaporizers) is prohibited inside the venue. A smoking patio is located at the Ann Street doors behind Section 112 on the concourse.

Strollers

If necessary, guests may bring strollers to events. Please note strollers must be checked at Guest Service before proceeding to your seats. You may not leave strollers in the walkways, in front of doors or on the concourse. XL Center is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged strollers. Guest Services is located outside of section 124.

Student Seating

UConn students enter the XL Center through the Church Street entrance, across from the Church Street Garage, and must have a student ticket and valid UConn ID for entry. For ticket information please contact the UConn Athletics Ticket Office at athtickets@uconn.edu or by telephone at 1-877-AT-UCONN (1-877-288- 2666).     • Purchase Tickets - Buy tickets directly from the UConn Athletic Department when available.
    • Renew Tickets - Renew your season tickets online in a matter of minutes.
    • Ticket Marketplace - Buy and sell unused tickets from UConn season ticket holders.
    • Ticket Transfer - Transfer unused tickets to family and friends.
  • Payment - All major credit cards are accepted.
  • Re-Entry - Re-entry is NOT permitted into the XL Center.
  • Student Tickets - UConn Student Tickets are valid ONLY for UConn students with a valid student ID card. ID must be presented with ticket upon entering the arena. Students with student tickets can enter through the Ann & Church Street entrance.
  • Ticket Transfer - Can't make it to a game this season? The UConn Athletics Ticket Transfer program is a great way to easily and efficiently ensure your tickets do not go unused and help the Huskies maintain the home field advantage. Electronically transfer your tickets online through Ticket Transfer.
  • Ticket Office Hours - – Tickets may be purchased at the UConn ticket office Monday thru Friday anytime from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM, located in the Field House on Hillside Road. For weekday events, the Agera Energy Ticket Office opens at noon and will remain open one hour after game time. For weekend events, the Agera Energy Ticket Office opens four hours prior to game time and will remain open until one hour after game time.
  • Will Call - Will Call tickets can be picked up 60 minutes prior to puck-drop until the end of the second period. Please see below for will call locations at the XL Center:
    • General Public - Main Box Office, located inside the XL Center Atrium (the main entrance), on Trumbull Street and across from Pratt Street. Guests may pick up will call tickets at Window 9.

Visiting Team Fans

Visiting team fans are guests of the XL Center, and UConn Athletics, and are held to the same fan behavior conduct standards outlined above. All guests are expected to treat other guests, student-athletes, coaches, and officials with courtesy and in a positive manner. Violators are subject to ejection and possible arrest.

Visiting Team Will Call is located inside the XL Center Atrium (the main entrance), on Trumbull Street and across from Pratt Street. Tickets may be picked up 60 minutes prior to puck-drop. Ticket distribution is determined by the visiting team. By NCAA rule, all guests picking up UConn and Visiting Team Player-Guest Tickets must provide valid identification, sign for their ticket, and immediately enter the arena. Water Fountains

Water fountains are located at all four corners of the concourse (behind Sections 101, 105, 107, 112, 118, 119, & 124). Water fountain locations can be found on the Arena Map.

Will Call

Will call tickets can be picked up at the designated location (listed below) starting 60 minutes prior to game time until the end of the second period. Entry locations can be found on the Arena Map.

  • General - A guest picking up will call tickets must bring the credit card used to purchase the tickets along with a valid form of identification. In addition, the name on the credit card must be the same as the person picking up the tickets.
    • Location - XL Center Box Office, at Window 9, located inside the XL Center Atrium (the main entrance), on Trumbull Street and across from Pratt Street.
  • Media - All media credentials should be requested by the media through UConn’s Athletic Communications Department. All media personnel picking up tickets at will call must present valid identification.
    • Location - XL Center Box Office located inside the XL Center Atrium (the main entrance), on Trumbull Street and across from Pratt Street.
  • UConn Player-Guest - All guests picking up tickets at will call must present a valid state issued photo driver’s license or identification card. By NCAA rule, all guests picking up UConn Player-Guest Tickets must provide valid identification, sign for their ticket, and immediately enter the arena.

  • Visiting Team Player-Guest - All guests picking up visiting team tickets at will call must present a valid state issued photo driver’s license or identification card.
