Aug. 6, 2014 STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut Director of Athletics Warde Manuel was recently challenged by two of his counterparts - John Currie of Kansas State and Vicky Chun of Colgate - to take part in the "Cold Water Challenge" -- also known as #Chillin4Charity.

The story behind the Cold Water Challenge is blowing up our Twitter feed and has created a fun and unique buzz for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund was officially founded on December 3, 2007, from the vision of the organization's namesake Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach.

Since the Fund's inception, $8 million has been raised and $3.8 million has been granted for scientific research and related programs focused on women's cancers thanks to the generosity and continued support of our donors.

Manuel was up the challenge and had a lot of fun with it. In fact, he also challenged four of his counterparts to do the same - Brad Bates of Boston College, Stan Wilcox of Florida State and Sean Frazier of Northern Illinois and Mike Thomas of Illinois.

And now, watch Warde take the challenge.
