STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut Student-Athlete Advisory Committee would like to thank all those that contributed to the Hurricane Sandy Relief Food Drive that took place at Sunday's men's basketball game vs. Stony Brook.
Student-athletes from the women's ice hockey team, women's rowing team and men's tennis team helped collect food during the game and load it onto a truck to be delivered to Far Rockaway in the Queens borough of New York City= on Monday.
Eva Finkelstein, the president of the Scarsdale (N.Y.) Rotary, came to the game on Sunday with her family to pick up the donations and drive them to Queens. Finkelstein, her husband and her children David and Caroline generously donated their time to drive to Storrs to pick up the donations.
Special thanks also go to men's basketball coach Kevin Ollie and his wife Stephanie for their interest in reaching those affected by the hurricane and to Trisha-Ann Hawthorne of the UConn Athletics Compliance Office for her efforts in coordinating the partnership with Finkelstein.
