James Doran is entering his 12th year with the Huskies. His sport responsibility is with the University of Connecticut men's basketball team.
He received his bachelor's degree in kinesiology from San Diego State University in 1998 and his master's degree in exercise science from the University of Wyoming in 2000. James completed an internship (1996-1998) at the University of San Diego and his graduate assistantship (1998-2000) at the University of Wyoming.
James was the Associate Athletic Trainer (AT) for the University of Wyoming and was primarily responsible for the Cowboy men's basketball team from 2000 to 2005. During his tenure at the University of Wyoming he also held responsibilities with football, wrestling, men's and women's track, women's tennis, men's and women's golf and cheerleading.
He received his National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification credential in 1998, and is a current member of the National Athletic Trainers Association & American College of Sports Medicine.
He represented ATs in the state of Connecticut as the President (2013-2016) for the Connecticut Athletic Trainers' Association (CATA). Currently, James is a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee for the CATA and Treasurer for the Alliance for Intercollegiate Sports Medicine (AISM).
