Janelle Francisco is entering her ninth year at UConn. Her sport responsibility is with the UConn Women’s Basketball program. She worked with the baseball, football, women’s ice hockey and men’s and women’s tennis programs prior to her current sport responsibility.
She received her bachelor's degree in kinesiology/athletic training from UConn in 2002 and her master’s degree in physical education from Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in 2005. Janelle was an Intern Athletic Trainer at Villanova University from 2002-2003 for women’s volleyball and softball. She was a graduate assistant athletic trainer for women’s basketball at CCSU from 2003-2005.
Janelle returns to Storrs via Staten Island where she was the associate athletic trainer for Wagner College from 2005-2008. She was the head athletic trainer for the Seahawks Football and Women’s Basketball programs. During her tenure at Wagner College she also worked with women’s lacrosse, women’s water polo and track and field. She had the opportunity to travel with the women’s water polo team to the 2007 NCAA Championships.
Janelle became a Board of Certification (BOC) Certified Athletic Trainer in 2002 and is a current member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association. She held the position of Secretary for the Connecticut Athletic Trainers’ Association (CATA) from 2010-2016 and continues to be a member of the CATA.
