Mike Shapley is in his first season working on a full-time basis with the UConn equipment staff. Shapley coordinates and oversees all phases of the football team’s equipment operations.

Shapley came to UConn from Towson University where he served as the assistant equipment manager for three years.  During his time at Towson, he oversaw all of the daily equipment operations of the Field House Equipment Room which serviced the football, men’s lacrosse, women’s lacrosse, field hockey, and track & field teams.

Previously, Shapley worked as the assistant equipment manager at Rutgers University working with the football team for three years. He also spent four years a student manager with the team during his time working towards his time at Rutgers as an undergrad.

Shapley also interned with the Carolina Panthers of the NFL for three summers for training camp where he assisted in the operations of the Panthers equipment room as well as with practices for the organization.

He graduated from Rutgers University in 2011 with the bachelor’s degree in exercise science and sport studies with a concentration in sport management.  He is a Certified Athletic Equipment Manager as recognized by the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (AEMA). A native of Deptford, N.J., he currently resides in West Hartford.
