Theresa Hallenbeck has served as the insurance coordinator for NCAA Student-Athletes at UConn for the last 12 years. She is responsible for coordinating benefits between primary medical insurance and the University’s Secondary Athletic Injury Plan. Additionally, she is responsible for obtaining prior authorizations, verifying medical coverage and benefits.
Prior to coming to UConn, Hallenbeck worked for Natchaug Hospital in Willimantic in working in Patient Accounts. She served as the billing specialist for major commercial plans (BC/BS, Aetna and Cigna). Prior to Natchaug she was with Diversified Group Brokerage, a third party medical insurance agency.
A native Upstate New Yorker, Hallenbeck joined the United States Army after graduating from high school and did three years in the capacity of a 95B Military Police. She and her husband, Bret, met in Ft. McClellan Ala. and the couple was later stationed in Ft. Carson, Colo.
The couple has three children, three grandchildren, four dogs, two cats, numerous aquatic pets and Harley the parrot!
Hallenbeck is certified in medical billing and coding and is a professional member of the AMTA as a licensed massage therapist.
