SAAC Members Take Part In Mansfield's "Festival On The Green"

STORRS, Conn. (October 19, 2006) --- “Festival on the Green”, a local fair in Mansfield, Conn., took place on Sunday, Sept. 17, and for the second straight year members of the University of Connecticut Student Athlete Advisory Committee participated. The event, which was sponsored by the Mansfield Downtown Partnership, also served as a venue to show off plans for the Storrs Center construction project, set to begin next year. [continues]

UConn Student-Athletes Play Hosts To Big Brothers And Big Sisters

Members of the Nutmeg Big Brothers and Big Sisters program from around the state of Connecticut were the guests of UConn’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee on the Storrs campus on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005. Approximately 35 members of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters took part in the event while over 70 Husky student-athletes served as hosts, including members of the baseball, softball, women’s lacrosse and football teams. Two student-athletes were paired up with each child for a memorable day at UConn. [continues]

UConn SAAC Raises $30,000 For Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort

STORRS, Conn. (Sept. 15) -- The University of Connecticut Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in conjunction with the American Red Cross, raised a total of $30,000 for the victims of Hurricane Katrina at the Sept. 10 UConn vs. Liberty football game. The SAAC collected the money from patrons as they were entering the game. [continues]

Williams to Represent UConn at 2005 NCAA Leadership Conference

STORRS, Conn. (May 2) - University of Connecticut women’s track and field junior Leah Williams (Brookfield, Conn.) has been selected to represent UConn at the 2005 NCAA Leadership Conference, which will be held May 29-June 2 at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex and Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Each school is permitted to send one representative to the event and a total of 324 student-athletes out of 1,166 who were nominated will take part in this year’s conference. [continues]
