As a Freshman in 2006-07: Saw action in 21 games with an average of 2.0 points and 1.9 rebounds in 6.7 minutes per game ... Led team in scoring once this season, putting up 16 points against Albany ... Grabbed seven rebounds and added three points against Syracuse in the BIG EAST Tourney ... Posted two rebounds at Syracuse ... Had four rebounds against Seton Hall ... Grabbed two rebounds against Georgia Tech ... Had two points, rebounds and blocks in win over Syracuse ... Tallied two points and four rebounds in overtime win against Rutgers ... Grabbed one rebound against Marquette... Missed the game against Coppin State with a sprained ankle... Scored seven points in win over St. Mary’s (CA) ... Had two points and grabbed one board in seven minutes against Northeastern ... Tallied five rebounds, three points and two steals in win over Texas Southern ... Scored four points and picked up three boards and two blocks in win over Sacred Heart ... Had breakout game against Albany, scoring 16 points off 6-of-6 shooting from the field, in addition to five boards and two blocks ... Saw six minutes of action vs. Central Arkansas in HCFC, grabbing two rebounds ... Played three minutes against Quinnipiac, taking one shot.

 

Before UConn: As a Senior in 2005-06, he led Mesquite High School to a 20-6 record… He averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per game… He broke Mesquite's career block record in his senior season by compiling more than 100 blocked shots… Was the Co-Region Player of the Year in the Fiesta Region… He was an honorable mention All-State performer.

 

Personal Information: Gavin Earl Edwards... Born January 15, 1988 in Phoenix, Ariz. ... Son of Earl and Janice Edwards… Has one brother, Damien... His father Earl played 11 seasons in the National Football League as a defensive lineman for San Francisco, Buffalo, Cleveland and Green Bay between 1969 and 1979.
