A true senior who is one of the team’s most experienced
players, having appeared in every game for the past three seasons in the
secondary.
Career: Has made 141 tackles in 35 career games played with 18
starts…Also boasts three career interceptions, eight pass break-ups and
4.5 tackles for loss…Has played at both safety and corner.
2006: Started all 12 games at cornerback and lead all UConn
defensive backs with his 79 total tackles, a sum that was third on the
squad overall…Had 47 solo tackles, four TFLs, an interception and four
pass break-ups while also both forcing and recovering two fumbles…Had
seven tackles at Louisville (Dec. 2) including one for a loss while also
breaking up a pass…Recovered a fumble at Syracuse (Nov. 18) and made
four stops, all solo…Was one tackle off of a career high with his 10
against Pittsburgh (Nov. 11), a game in which he also forced a fumble
and had a half of a TFL….Was responsible for two turnovers at Rutgers
(Oct. 29) with both an interception and a fumble recovery to accompany
his team-high nine tackles…Forced a fumble and made eight tackles, one
for a loss, against Navy (Sept. 30)…Chipped in four tackles, including a
TFL, to the win at Indiana (Sept. 23) also breaking up a Hoosier
pass…Recorded eight tackles against Wake Forest (Sept. 16).
2005: Appeared in all 11 games on both defense and special teams,
starting the last five contests at cornerback…Had 42 tackles on the year
(21 solo) while making half of a tackle for loss, two interceptions and
breaking up four other passes…Made a career-high 11 stops against
Louisville (Dec. 3), second on the team. Also broke up two passes
against the Cardinals and shared his first career TFL…Had five tackles
and an interception in the win over USF (Nov. 26)…Had four tackles and
broke up a pass at Pittsburgh (Nov. 12)…In his first start of the
season, recorded nine tackles against Rutgers (Oct. 22) and intercepted
a pass.
2004: Appeared in all 12 games, mainly on special teams, while
also seeing increased time in the secondary as the year went
along…Earned a start at cornerback at Georgia Tech (Nov. 13) becoming
the only true freshman to start a game all season…Returned 10 kickoffs
for an average of 20.0 yards, mainly during the first half of the
season…Made 20 tackles, 12 of them solos…Had a career high four stops,
all solo, against Buffalo (Nov. 20) to help UConn clinch its bowl
eligibility…Started at cornerback at Georgia Tech and assisted on a pair
of tackles…Had a critical 38-yard kickoff return just before halftime of
the nationally-televised win over Pittsburgh (Sept. 30) which set up
Matt Nuzie’s dramatic, momentum-swinging 49-yard field goal as time
expired in the half….Recorded at least one tackle in every game except
for Pittsburgh.
High School: Earned second-team All-State honors…Named
second-team All-Central New York and second-team All-Area…Saw action at
both tailback and outside linebacker for the Northstars…Won the 2004
National Indoor Track Championship in the 60 meters (6.82)…Named the
Gatorade New York State Track Athlete of the Year…Finished first in the
state in both the 100 and 200 meters as a senior…Has run a 10.60 in the
100 meter dash.
