Carl Kotz
Recruiting Assistant
Carl Kotz joined the staff in May of 2006 as the team’s first recruiting
assistant. Kotz helps manage the recruiting database, organize on-campus visits
and serve as the program’s link to CyberSports, a company that works with UConn
on its web-based recruiting materials.
Kotz previously worked at Clemson where he served as a graduate assistant in
recruiting and football operations for the spring 2006 semester. He helped
coordinate special events for the Tigers in this time, including Junior Day and
the team’s annual Ladies Clinic. Kotz coordinated the state-side training camp
operations for the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe in the spring of 2005. He
served as the Team Travel and Salary Cap Coordinator for the Jacksonville
Jaguars from 2003-05. In that role, he was responsible for organizing team
travel, free agent visits, pre-draft player visits and training camp operations,
along with performing salary cap research.
Born in Ogdensburg, N.Y. but a graduate of Hugh C. Williams High School in
Canton, N.Y., Kotz originally enrolled at Nichols State to play football. After
suffering an injury, Kotz transferred to Clemson, earning his bachelor’s degree
in parks, recreation and tourism management from the school in 2003, graduating
cum laude. As a student assistant in the Clemson football office, Kotz helped
with football operations, recruiting and special events while also serving as an
assistant coordinator of the Tommy Bowden Football Camp. Kotz resides in Vernon,
Conn.
