Tennis Coaching Staff

Glenn D. Marshall - Director of Tennis

Glenn Marshall is in his 15th season as the University of Connecticut men’s tennis team head coach and ninth year as the head coach of the women’s program.

During the 2003-04 academic year, Marshall posted his 200th career win in men's and women's tennis combined at UConn.

Marshall's teams went 27-14 overall in the 2001-02 season, for a winning percentage of .659, the highest since he took over the women's program in the 1997-98 season.

During the 2001 fall season, Marshall led the women’s team to a championship at the New England Championships, while, individually, UConn took championships in five of the six singles brackets and two of the three doubles brackets.

In 1999-2000, Marshall led the men through an impressive 20-5 season, setting a UConn single-season record for total wins. The Huskies would finish seventh in the conference and tabulated notable wins in the year against Maryland, Georgetown, Seton Hall and Providence.

The Huskies’ mentor has led UConn to four men's team championships in his tenure at Connecticut. In his first year as head coach in the spring of 1993, Marshall led the Huskies to the New England Championship and the team captured the ECAC Championship in the fall of 1993. UConn then defended each crown successfully, winning the New England Championship in the 1994 spring season and the ECAC title in the fall of 1994.

In September of 1997, Marshall was named Director of Tennis. In this capacity, he now serves as the head coach for both the men’s and women’s tennis programs. The women have posted 66 wins in the seven seasons since his appointment.

Away from the game, Marshall has assisted in the research and development of tennis racquets at Bosworth International in Boca Raton, Fla., after graduating from UConn in 1989.

A native of Glastonbury, Conn., Marshall serves as the director of tennis at the country club of Fairfield during the summer months. There, he and his staff instruct over 100 juniors and run an extensive adult program.

He attended Keene State College in New Hampshire for one year, before transferring to the University of Connecticut in the fall of 1986. Marshall graduated from UConn in 1989 with a bachelor’s of fine arts degree in music and later completed his master’s degree in sport management.

Marshall resides in his hometown of Glastonbury, Conn., with his wife, Carolyn, and their two children, Carter (10) and Christine (8).

Mike Louis - Student Assistant Coach

Former team captain and three-year letterwinner Mike Louis is in his third year on the University of Connecticut's tennis coaching staff.

As a player for the Huskies from 2001-04, Louis complied an overall singles record of 35-32.

Louis, a native of New York, N.Y., will be with the team throughout the academic year while working to complete his degree in exercise science.
