Award winner #13 for National Student Athlete Day is Katie Dobler from women’s swimming. Katie is the perfect example of the term student-athlete. A top student in the classroom, Katie is also an accomplished swimmer. A native of Pittsford, NY, Katie is a Biomedical Engineering major.
During her time at UConn, Katie has been named to the Dean’s List in the School of Engineering six of her seven semesters and is a member of the Engineering Honor Society Tau Beta PI. She is also a three-time member of the Big East All-Academic Team as well as an Athletic Director’s Honor Roll member each semester she has been here.
Katie helped lead her team to a successful season during her senior year, highlighted by the Big East Championships where she was a member of the school record breaking 800-yeard freestyle relay team. She also qualified for the Championships in the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, and 100-yard freestyle, where she had a 14th place finish.
After graduation, Katie will begin working at Thermo Fischer Scientific and based on her work ethic and motivation, we believe Katie will be extremely successful!
