STORRS, Conn. - Nick Cerra is a true example of what being a student-athlete means. An Allied Health Sciences major, he has excelled in the classroom and in the pool. Nick has also found the time to dedicate himself to community service endeavors, serving as President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Nick has been named to the Big East All-Academic Team three times: 2009-2010, 2010-2011, and 2011-2012. He has helped his team be named to the Scholar All-American Team in 2011 and 2012. Nick has a passion for helping others and will be looking to attend Physical Therapy school after graduation. With his work ethic, determination, and attitude Nick will be very successful.
Serving as Captain his senior season, Nick is a true leader and a motivation to his teammates. He helped lead his team to a 4th place finish in the Big East Championships during his final year at UConn while finishing 12th in the 200 yard butterfly. During his junior year he placed 15th in the 100 yard butterfly and 13th in the 200 yard butterfly at the Big East Championships.
As a member of the SAAC, Nick has helped coordinate many community service activities including food drives, winter coat drives, and book drives. He has also helped organize activities which have raised money for cancer research and the Sandy Hook Scholarship fund.
As evidenced by the giant `C' on his ribs, Nick is a Husky for life and will be missed by the UConn community. Congratulations Nick on all your success in the classroom and in the pool and also for your dedication to the SAAC!
