    UConn Hands Out 2013 Awards, Holds Baseball Alumni Game

    2011 SEASON: Became the third player in program selected in the first round of the MLB Amateur Draft as he went 19th overall to the Boston Red Sox... honored as the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year and earned a spot on the league's All-BIG EAST First Team... picked up First Team All-American honors from NCBWA and Louisville Slugger as well as Second Team honors from Perfect Game USA and Baseball America... regionally, he was named to the ABCA Northeast and NEIBA First Teams... named a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist... totaled 247 career strikeouts, setting a new UConn record... posted an 11-5 overall record to become just the third player in team history to win 10 or more games in a single season... finished third in the UConn record books in wins with 24 and innings pitched with 256.2... set a program-record with 121.0 innings pitched as a senior... struck out 117 batters for the season and held a 1.93 earned run average... pitched three complete games, all shutouts,and pitched seven or more innings in 12 starts... struck out a season-high 11 batters in his first start of the season against Minnesota (2/19)... completed his first shutout in a 3-1 two-hitter at San Diego (3/12)... fanned six batters in a 7-0 shutout win in first BIG EAST start vs. Pittsburgh (3/25)... gave up one run and struck out seven in 8.2 innings of a 9-1 win over St. John's (4/2)... struck out 10 in 8.0 innings of a 9-3 win over South Florida (5/7).

    Appeared in 15 games and pitched 82.2 innings... led the team in wins with eight... was 8-3 on the year... gave up 36 earned runs with an ERA of 3.92... led the team in strikeouts with 75... gave up 79 hits and 25 walks... pitched a complete game two hitter vs. Cincinnati (5/8)... All-Big East First Team. 2010 SUMMER: Played for the USA Collegiate Team... was one of four players honored at the WUBC as he had the lowest individual ERA of the tournament with a 0.00 ERA... finished the summer with a 3-0 record in four appearances and three starts... posted an ERA of 1.42... played with the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League prior to being named to the USA Team... on the Cape, he was 1-2 in three starts as he struck out 20 in 20.2 innings of work.

    2009 SEASON: As a freshman...finished the year with a 5-3 record and 5.43 ERA on the hill... made seven starts and made an appearance in 13 games... registered one save... struck out 55 batters in 53.0 innings of work... struck out nine at Sacred Heart (March 17) in six innings thrown. 2009 SUMMER: Tallied 33 strikeouts in 26.1 innings with the Wareham Gateman in the CCBL.
