2009 SEASON: First UConn player in the history of the program to be named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year... led the team with 75 runs scored, 16 home runs and 57 RBI, while being third in hits with 76... became one of the Huskies' most successful freshmen in program history as he climbed atop the UConn single-season record book with 16 home runs, the most in a single-season by a freshman... also earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team, becoming the first UConn player to do so since the 2006 season... holds the school record with the most runs scored in a single-season with 75, while his 16 homers puts him into a three-way tie in third place on the UConn single-season home runs list... he was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on May 3, marking the first weekly honor for the UConn ballclub in 2008 and 2009... he batted .358 in 56 games played... added 75 runs and 57 RBI to his tally as he stole 12 bases... he recorded 14 doubles and three triples... walked 32 times... he earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on April 13...was named a Pro-Line Athletic/NCBWA Freshman All-American and a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American....earned a spot on the ABCA Northeast First Team... played in the NEIBA All-Star game.
