PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. - The University of Connecticut baseball team fell to Villanova 11-6 in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats recorded a pair of five-run innings to surpass the Huskies in the BIG EAST Conference battle.

UConn (32-23, 13-13 BIG EAST) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning as Matt Burnett recorded a leadoff single to left field before advancing to second on a Doug Elliot sacrifice bunt. Harold Brantley Jr followed with a triple to left field to pick up his 21st RBI of the season. He later scored as Pierre LePage recorded a sacrifice fly to right field.

The Huskies took a 5-1 lead with a three-run fifth inning. Elliot doubled into the gap in right center and moved to third on a base hit by Brantley. LePage recorded his second and third RBI of the ballgame with a single up the middle then scored on a Mike Nemeth hit through the right side of the infield.

Greg Nappo left the hill with a 5-1 lead in the Huskies' favor as he gave up one run and three hits in four innings. He also struck out six batters.

Vance replaced Nappo and ran into some trouble as he allowed five runs off of three hits and two walked batters in his one inning thrown. The Wildcats' five-run fifth inning was led by a bases clearing double by Wesley Borden, followed by a two RBI base hit by Dain Hall.

Errors also haunted the UConn defense as it picked up a season-high five on the afternoon, allowing Villanova to take control of the game. Trent DeLazzer threw in the sixth inning and allowed a solo home run to Borden to put the Wildcats up 7-5. He left the game with the bases loaded after giving up four hits and four runs. Bob Van Woert came in for relief for UConn and gave up a grand slam to the first batter he faced as Villanova took an 11-5 lead.
