Perfect Game 2015 College Baseball Preview Index

UConn baseball standouts Blake Davey and Anthony Kay were each named to the Perfect Game Top 100 lists for their respective classes as part of the site's 2015 College Baseball Preview. Davey (Newport Beach, Calif.) was named the No. 57 overall senior, while Kay (Stony Brook, N.Y.) came in at No. 100 on the top sophomores list.

Davey adds the preseason accolade to his Preseason All-Conference nod from The American Athletic Conference. The senior slugger led the Huskies with 10 home runs and 48 runs scored last year, holding a .313/.452/.512 slash line. Following the season, Davey was named First Team All-Conference, NEIBA All-New England and ABCA All-Northeast Region. He followed up his first season in Storrs with a strong summer in the prestigious Cape Cod Collegiate Baseball League.  A Cape Leauge All Star for the Bourne Braves, Davey finished fifth on the Cape in home runs during the regular season with five long balls and added a .377 on-base percentage, 10 doubles, two triples, 23 RBIs and 31 runs.

For Kay, the nod comes after the southpaw tossed 67.0 innings during his rookie season in Storrs. In 18 appearances, including eight starts, Kay finished with a 5-4 record and a 3.49 ERA, striking out 57 batters and recording two saves. In 10 relief appearances, Kay recorded a 1.57 ERA in 23.0 innings. He also set the UConn single-season record for pickoffs with eight. This summer Kay also spent time in the CCBL, tossing 39.1 innings for the Wareham Gatemen and recording a 2.74 ERA.

The Huskies open the 2015 season on Feb. 13 with a trip to Florida Atlantic. Stay tuned to leading up to opening day for preseason features and a full season preview in the coming weeks.
