– With the 2016 season set to begin in just over a week, the UConn baseball team held its annual media day on Tuesday afternoon at the Mark R. Shenkman Training Center.

The Huskies held an open practice from 4-6 p.m., participating in a variety of situational, fielding and pitching drills, before meeting with the media for interviews following the training session.

In December, five members of the Husky team, Anthony Kay, Bobby Melley, Jack Sundberg, Willy Yahn and Joe DeRoche-Duffin, were honored by the American Athletic Conference as members of the league’s preseason all-confence squad. Additionally, Kay was selected as The American’s Preseason Co-Pitcher of the Year. As a team, UConn earned 32 points in the coaches’ poll, including a first-place vote, on its way to a fourth-place finish.

Connecticut begins the 2016 campaign looking for its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in seven seasons when it travels to San Antonio, Texas to take on UTSA for a three-game set on Feb. 19-21.
