STORRS, Conn. - UConn baseball's Kevin Vance was named to the NCBWA 2011 Stopper of the Year Watch List as announced by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association earlier this month.
Vance is among 45 players selected for the watch list as the Stopper of the Year honor will be given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball.
In 2010, the junior pitcher posted an ERA of 2.41 in 17 appearances. He also recorded a team-high eight saves along with 17 strikeouts in 18.2 innings of work.
Vance and the Huskies open the 2011 season on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Dunedin, Fla. against Purdue as part of the BIG EAST/Big Ten Challenge.
