PROVIDENCE - After helping the UConn offense tally 56 runs in three wins over the weekend at the 2016 Governors Challenge in Clarksville, Tenn., UConn junior DH Tyler Gnesda (Laguna Nigel, Calf.) has been selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday.

Gnesda went 7-for-14 with six runs scored, a pair of homers and 11 RBIs in UConn wins over No. 12 Missouri State, Austin Peay, and Alcorn St. The DH boasted a weekend slugging percentage of 1.000 and held a stellar .611 OBP over the three-game stretch.
