Friday, March 3 vs. Western Michigan 1:00 p.m. Melching Field at Conrad Park
DeLand, Fla. – The UConn baseball team travels to DeLand, Fla. to participate in the Westin Lake Mary Stetson Invitational against Western Michigan, Stetson and Saint Joseph’s. All games can be heard on 91.7 WHUS or online at fm.whus.org.

The Huskies (4-3) enter the weekend ranked third in the country with 12.5 per nine innings this season. Starters Tim Cate and Wills Montgomerie both rank in the top 10 nationally in both total strikeouts and strikeouts per nine.
Montgomerie was honored earlier this weekend by The American as the conference’s Pitcher of the Week. Montgomerie struck out a career-high 13 in a victory against Texas last Saturday. The right-hander scattered four hits in 6.1 shutout innings for the Huskies.
Isaac Feldstein has provided stability in the middle of the UConn order leading the team in multiple offensive categories. The Palo Alto native is tops on the team in hits (11), doubles (five), slugging (.731) and RBIs (8).
The Huskies open the weekend against the Broncos of Western Michigan (2-5) at 1 p.m. on Friday. UConn is 1-2 all-time against Western Michigan. The first meeting between the programs came in the 1959 College World Series. The Huskies also played the Broncos twice in 2007 at the University of North Florida. The Huskies won the matchup on March 6th, 6-4 in 13 innings. Senior Josh Farkes hit a three-run homer in the 13th to propel UConn.
UConn plays its first night game of the season at 7 p.m. on Saturday against Stetson (4-5). The Hatters and Huskies have squared off six times previously, the series is tied, 3-3. The last meeting came in 2013, a 9-3 Huskies win. L.J. Mazzilli went 2-4 with four RBI and two runs scored.
To close out the weekend, the Huskies face of with Saint Joseph’s (0-6) for the first time in program history. The Hawks are one of four teams (BYU, UC Davis, and Santa Clara) that the Huskies play for the first time.
