NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - After collecting an 8-2 win over Yale in its home opener on Tuesday, the UConn baseball team heads to California for the start of an eight-game road trip that spans from March 11-20. The Huskies will kick off the stretch with a four-game weekend at Matador Field on the campus of Cal State Northridge. UConn is scheduled to take on William & Mary (12 p.m. ET) and CSUN (4 p.m. ET) on Friday before a 1 p.m. tilt with the Tribe on Saturday and a 5 p.m. finale against the Matadors on Sunday evening.

Connecticut (6-4, 0-0 The American) grabbed its first home opening-win since 2013 on Tuesday behind a six-inning scoreless performance from junior RHP Andrew Zapata (Staten Island, N.Y.). Junior DH Tyler Gnesda (Laguna Nigel, Calif.) added three RBIs, while Willy Yahn (Sharon, Conn.) scored three times in the victory.

UConn and William & Mary met on the field for the first time in the 2015 season when the Huskies handed the Tribe a 12-1 defeat on March 28, 2015. Connecticut compiled 13 hits in the win, including multi-hit games from five different Huskies.

UConn is 3-1 all-time against the Matadors with all four games coming in the 2010 season. After earning victories in the first three games (7-3, 11-2, 9-7), the Matadors claimed a 5-3 win in the last meeting on March 8, 2010.

The Huskies own a 2-0 mark on neutral diamonds this year and sport a 28-13 (.683) record in such contests since the start of the 2013 campaign.

UConn has scored first in nine of its first 10 games (6-4). A season ago, Connecticut owned a 23-5 (.821) record when scoring before its opposition.
