LOS ANGELES – Following a 2-2 weekend in Northridge, the UConn baseball team continues its eight-game West Coast swing with a midweek game at USC on Tuesday, March 15. First pitch at Dedeaux Field is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET.
UConn (8-6, 0-0 The American) scored 20 runs in a pair of neutral-site wins over William & Mary on March 11-12 in Northridge, Calif. before falling twice in doubleheader action to CSUN on Sunday. Sophomore 3B Willy Yahn (Sharon, Conn.) went 7-for-17 with a homer and five RBIs over the weekend, while senior SS Bryan Daniello (Nowalk, Conn.) hit .400 (6-for-15) with a team-best six runs scored.
UConn owns a 1-1 all-time record against Southern California in a series dating back to the 1972 campaign. The Huskies won the most recent match-up, 5-4, on March 11, 2010 behind a three-hit performance from Mike Olt.
USC enters Tuesday’s tilt with a 7-7 overall mark and a 4-4 home record. The Trojans are coming off a 16-6 win over No. 11 TCU on Sunday and are hitting .298 as a team through 14 games.
Through 14 games, the Huskies are hitting .290 with 15 homeruns and a stellar .394 OBP. The Husky pitching staff has compiled a 3.73 ERA with 133 strikeouts in 123.0 innings of work.
Following the midweek against the Trojans, Connecticut closes out its Spring Break trip with a three-game set at UC Santa Barbara on March 18-20.
