Fresh off a 5-4 comeback win over USC on Tuesday, the UConn baseball team rounds out an eight-game road trip with a weekend series at No. 21 UC Santa Barbara on March 18-20 at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.  The Huskies and Gauchos open the three-game set on Friday at 6 p.m. ET before a 5 p.m. tilt on Saturday and a 4 p.m. Sunday finale.

UConn (9-6, 0-0 The American) used a three-run eighth inning to collect its second-ever win over USC on Tuesday in Los Angeles. Sophomore OF Troy Stefanski (North Stonington, Conn.) drove in three runs, while junior lefty Doug Domnarski (Pawcatuck, Conn.) picked up his first win in a Husky uniform with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Huskies and Guachos have never met on the diamond. UCSB, which checked in at No. 21 on the weekly Collegiate Baseball Division I poll, enters the weekend with a 12-3 record, including a 8-1 mark at home. The Gauchos are hitting .288 as a team, led by redshirt-sophomore Dempsey Grover’s .450 average. On the mound, the team boasts an ERA of 3.80 with a .239 batting average against.

Through 15 games, Connecticut ranks in the top-three in the American in batting average (.287) and ERA (3.61). Individually, sophomore 3B Willy Yahn’s (Sharon, Conn.) 41 total bases rank second in the league, while his .603 slugging percentage is fourth. Senior co-captain Bobby Melley (Barnstable, Mass.) leads the conference with a .493 on-base percentage.

Connecticut returns to the Nutmeg State on March 23 when it hosts in-state rival Central Connecticut at J.O. Christian field at 3 p.m.
