For just the second time in 2016, the UConn baseball team is set for a home game at J.O. Christian Field when it welcomes in-state foe Central Connecticut to Storrs on Wednesday, March 23. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. with radio coverage on, 91.7 FM.

Siena Drives In Six In 17-2 Victory At CCSU
The UConn baseball team (15-8) continued its hot hitting in a 17-2 victory at Central Connecticut (6-7) on Wednesday afternoon at Balf-Savin Field. With the win, the Huskies have now scored 35 runs in their last two games and are 9-2 over their last 11 contests.

UConn (9-9, 0-0 The American) brings a 2-0 midweek record into the contest, including a 5-4 win over USC last Tuesday in Los Angeles, Calif. The Huskies are 1-0 on their home diamond this season after topping Yale, 8-2, in their home opener on March 8.

The Huskies own a 29-8 all-time record against the Blue Devils in a series dating back to 1987, including a string of seven consecutive victories. Connecticut rolled to a 17-2 win over CCSU a season ago led by a four-RBI afternoon from 3B Willy Yahn (Sharon, Conn.).

The Blue Devils enter Wednesday’s match-up with an overall record of 5-11 and have dropped seven-straight games, including a four-game series against Bryant last weekend. The team is led offensively by sophomore infielder Ryan Costello, who leads the team with five doubles and six RBIs. On the mound, Central has compiled a 4.67 staff ERA in 135.0 innings pitched.

Connecticut has scored first in 14 of its 18 games in 2016 and owns a 7-1 overall record when out-hitting its opponent. Additionally, the team has out-scored opponents 63-to-23 after the sixth inning.
