The University of Connecticut baseball team downed Seton Hall 7-2 in the Huskies' first BIG EAST Conference road game of the 2009 season in South Orange, N.J.
The Huskies, now 13-13 on the year, were led by Harold Brantley, Jr., who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs on the afternoon. Sophomore Mike Olt has a team-leading sixth homerun of the season to help the Huskies earn their position and compete at the Final Four.
The Huskies' pitching staff had a stellar outing in today's contest as senior John Folino struck out four and allowed six hits in six innings thrown. Dan Mahoney and Scott Oberg were also dominating on the hill as they combined for three innings pitched, four strikeouts and two hits.
Brantley scored the first UConn run in the top of the first inning as he found home plate on a wild pitch to put the Huskies up by one. Mike Nemeth, Peter Fatse and Matt Burnett all doubled in today's match-up to lead the Huskies to the victory.
The Huskies will return to action on Saturday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m. as they take on the Seton Hall Pirates once again in BIG EAST Conference play.
