The UConn baseball team begins a five-game homestand with a pair of midweek contests against Fairfield and Bryant at J.O. Christian Field. The Huskies and Stags will square off on Tuesday, April 12 at 3 p.m. before the team welcomes the Bulldogs to Storrs for a 3 p.m. tilt on Wednesday, April 13. Both contests will be broadcasted on, 91.7 FM.

Andrew Zapata fired seven scoreless innings to pace the UConn baseball team to a 7-0 victory at Fairfield on Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Diamond. The win improves to Huskies to 23-13 on the year, while the Stags drop to 7-21.

UConn Rolls Past Bryant, 18-5
The UConn baseball team pounded out 17 hits en route to an 18-5 victory at Bryant on Wednesday afternoon at Conaty Park. The Huskies improve to 24-13 with the victory and are a season-high 11 games over .500, while the Bulldogs drop to 10-16.

UConn (14-15, 2-3 The American) dropped two of three at Cincinnati over the weekend, grabbing game three, 4-2. Senior co-captain Jack Sundberg (Mansfield, Conn.) clubbed two doubles, scored a pair of runs, and registered two RBIs in the victory, while sophomore RHP Wills Montgomerie (Lakeville, Conn.) earned his second victory of the season, allowing one run in 5.0 innings of work.

Connecticut owns a 58-14-1 all-time record against Fairfield in a series dating back to 1973, including a string of 10 consecutive victories dating back to 2007. The Huskies are 5-3 all-time against the Bulldogs, including an 18-5 win on April 15, 2015.

The Stags head to Storrs with a 12-16 overall record, including a 5-12 mark on the road, while Bryant enters Wednesday’s game with a 20-6 record, checking in at No. 45 in the most recent NCAA RPI release (April 8).

Connecticut has won four of its six home games in 2016 and sports a 1-2 record against Connecticut-based opponents this season.

Through 29 games, sophomore infielder Willy Yahn (Sharon, Conn.) leads the team with a .315 batting average, checking in at No. 3 in The American with 41 hits. On the mound, junior LHP Anthony Kay (Stony Brook, Conn.) ranked in the top-10 in the league in strikeouts (54), batting average against (.212), and pickoffs (2).
