The UConn baseball team will take on Villanova in a three-game BIG EAST Conference series beginning on Friday with a double-header scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. The double-header on Friday was added due to the impending inclement weather on Saturday. The series' finale is tentatively scheduled for Sunday at 12:15 p.m.
QUICK HITS ON THE UCONN HUSKIES
• The UConn baseball team enters the weekend with an 18-12-1 overall record in 2011 and a 7-2 BIG EAST Conference mark.
• UConn is coming off a 6-2 defeat of Brown on Thursday afternoon in Storrs, Conn. Pat Butler threw seven innings in his first win of the season.
• Leading the way on the hill for the Huskies is Matt Barnes with 61.1 innings thrown and a team-best 54 strikeouts. He also has an ERA on 1.03 in eight starts.
• The 2011 season marks the 116th season of baseball at the University of Connecticut.
THROWING THE FIRST PITCH
UConn's veterans man the hill for the Huskies this weekend as all three starting pitchers for the UConn ballclub have 14 or more career wins, 150 or more career strikeouts and over 189 career innings pitched.

ON A ROLL
UConn's George Springer is currently on a 10-game hit streak as the Huskies are 7-2 in their last nine contests.
LEADING THE WAY
George Springer has a team-best 29 RBI this season and has hit four home runs to lead the Huskies in that category as well. Nick Ahmed has scored 31 times, a team-best tally, and has recorded 34 hits on the year.
Mike Nemeth is batting .341 in 31 games with a team-high 42 hits along with six doubles and 23 RBI.
Despite earning two losses in his first two starts of the season, Matt Barnes has struck out 54 batters in eight games thrown. He struck out 11 batters in UConn's 3-2 loss to Minnesota (2/19) and nine in UConn's 3-1 loss to Indiana. He is currently 6-2 on the year with a 1.03 ERA.
IN THE RECORD BOOKS
Mike Nemeth is UConn's all-time leader in hits (280) and doubles (61). Nemeth owns the UConn single-season records for doubles (22), hits (98) runs batted in (84) and games played (64), all of which were tallied in 2010.
George Springer ranks first in runs scored in the UConn career record books with 182. Springer ranks tied for third in home runs with 38 in his career. He is knotted in the third spot with Brian Packin (1997-2000).
In UConn's single-season record book, Springer owns the top spot in runs scored with 84 and walks with 60, both of which he recorded in 2010.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
UConn finished the 2010 regular season with a 21-6 record on the road, while being 3-2 in neutral site games. On the year, the Huskies were 7-4 at neutral sites, which includes 2010 BIG EAST postseason play. In 2011, UConn is 2-6 in neutral site games and 9-4 on an opponent's home field.
