STORRS, Conn. -
The University of Connecticut baseball team will be heading to Boston, Mass. on Monday afternoon for a non-conference battle against Northeastern at Friedman Diamond at 3:00 p.m.
Live statistics and play-by-play as well as live video are available through UConnHuskies.com.
After being swept by St. John's University in their weekend BIG EAST Conference series at J.O. Christian Field, the Huskies are jumping back into action with just their second road game in a two week span. UConn finished last week with a 1-4 record, stomping Quinnipiac 14-4 before falling to Rhode Island in non-league play and then St. John's in the three-game series.
The Huskies, who have posted double-digit scoring in eight of their last 15 games, were held to 17 runs in their four losses last week, including a four-run output in their 13-4 loss to St. John's on Sunday afternoon.
Today's contest at Northeastern is a make-up game that was originally scheduled for Monday, March 23 but was postponed due to wind chill and other inclement weather in the Boston area.
Head coach Jim Penders and his Huskies will begin a six-game road trip today, which takes the UConn ballclub to Boston, Mass this afternoon, Smithfield, R.I. on Tuesday, New Britain, Conn. on Wednesday and South Bend, Ind. over the weekend for the BIG EAST Conference series against Notre Dame.
The Huskies will take on three non-conference opponents in three consecutive days beginning today at Northeastern. Tuesday's match-up at Bryant University marks the first meeting for the two programs as Bryant became a Division I institution just this year. On Wednesday, the Huskies will travel to in-state opponent Central Connecticut State University for their 28th meeting with the Blue Devils since 1987.
