Baseball Series Opener vs. ECU Suspended

John Toppa picked up two hits in Friday's halted opener vs. ECU

STORRS, Conn. – After three delays due to rain in the Storrs area, Friday’s series opener between the UConn baseball team and East Carolina has been suspended after six innings of scoreless play at J.O. Christian Field. The two teams will resume the game on Saturday, May 7 at 12 p.m. before continuing the series with game two. 

Junior lefty Anthony Kay (Stony Brook, N.Y.) dazzled in his 12th start of the season, tossing six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts, while ECU ace Evan Kruzynski allowed just four hits in 6.0 innings of work with eight punch-outs.

Freshman OF John Toppa (Portsmouth, R.I.) collected two hits in three at-bats before the game was halted.
