With just nine games remaining in the regular season, the UConn baseball team continues its non-conference slate with a pair of midweeks against UMass on Tuesday, May 10 and at Northeastern on Wednesday, May 11. The Huskies and Minutemen square off at J.O. Christian Field at 3 p.m. on Tuesday before the team travels to Boston for a 2 p.m. tilt with Northeastern at Friedman Diamond on Wednesday. 

UConn (24-22, 8-9 The American) fell three times to No. 24 East Carolina over the weekend at home. Senior OF Jack Sundberg (Mansfield, Conn.) launched his second grand slam in as many weeks in a setback in game two but the Huskies dropped two one-run contests in the opener and finale.

The Huskies own an 88-72-3 all-time record against the Minutemen in a series dating back to 1900. UMass topped the Huskies, 9-5, on April 19 despite a two-hit game from freshman OF John Toppa (Portsmouth, R.I.). Connecticut is 54-18-1 all-time against Northeastern dating back to 1923, including a stretch of five wins in the last six contests.



Connecticut sports a 16-13 non-conference record in 2016 and is 5-3 against competition from New England.

Through 46 games, sophomore 3B Willy Yahn (Sharon, Conn.) ranks sixth in The American with a .320 batting average and leads the league with 63 total hits. Sundberg leads the conference with 40 runs scored and ranks seventh in steals (14), while Joe DeRoche-Duffin leads the league in both home runs (12) and RBI (41).

On the mound, junior ace Anthony Kay (Stony Brook, N.Y.) checks in in third in the league with 84 strikeouts and ranks fifth with a .212 batting average against.
