CLEARWATER, Fla. -- With the 2014 American Athletic Conference Baseball Championship beginning on Wednesday, the UConn baseball team (26-29, 9-14 The American) arrived in Florida this morning and held a practice in Clearwater this afternoon.

The Huskies landed in Tampa this morning, before holding an afternoon practice in Clearwater at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium, former spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies' current spring training home, Bright House Field, is the site of the Championship that begins tomorrow with the opening ceremony and home run derby. It also marks the site of UConn's run to the 2013 Big East Championship crown, won a year ago in Clearwater.

The seventh-seeded Huskies begin pool play on Wednesday morning when they take on second-seeded UCF at 11 a.m. For more information on the tournament, visit www.TheAmerican.org/baseball.
