ROCHESTER, Minn. — Three UConn baseball players, Ryan Radue, Joe DeRoche-Duffin and Jack Riley, have been selected to participate in the 2015 Major League Dreams Showcase, the Northwoods league announced on Monday.
The annual Showcase, which will be hosted by the Madison Mallards at Warner Park on Tuesday, August 4, will consist of a double-header featuring the top players from the league who were selected by a panel of Major League Baseball Scouts. The players will participate in a day of workouts in front of scouts which will be followed by the double-header.
The first game will start at 4:05 p.m. and will match two teams featuring a mix of North and South Division players.
Riley, who earned a spot on in the league’s All-Star game (July 21), has compiled a 4-1 record with a 1.89 ERA and a .236 BAA for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. He picked up a win in his last start on July 18 with a six-inning shutout performance against the La Crosse Loggers.
DeRoche-Duffin is tops on the Rochester Honkers and fourth in the league with nine long balls and has knocked in 26 runs in 46 games played. The Husky mainstay also checks in at No. 6 in the league with a .593 slugging percentage.
Radue owns a perfect 5-0 record for the Green Bay Bullfrogs, boasting a 3.34 ERA and a .207 batting average against. The right hander has held opponents to two earned runs or fewer in seven of his nine starts this summer.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Northwoods League Foundation. The Northwoods League Foundation utilizes the game of baseball to enrich the quality of life for children and families with an enduring and caring focus on Northwoods League communities.
