In late May, the Huskies captured their first-ever American Athletic Conference championship, earning a berth into the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in the last seven years. Eight different UConn players were named to the All-Conference First Team, including league Player of the Year Joe DeRoche-Duffin, league Pitcher of the Year Anthony Kay, and league Rookie Pitcher of the Year Tim Cate. Additionally, Penders was tabbed as The American’s 2016 Coach of the Year.
