Carlos Daniel is in his first year at UConn, hired in April, 2017, as the director of men’s basketball strength and conditioning with 17 years of experience in athletic development and fitness at the collegiate and professional levels.
Daniel came to UConn from St. David’s Healthcare, a medical center in Austin, affiliated with the University of Texas, where he was director of applied sports science. Previous to that, he was the men’s basketball strength and conditioning coach at SMU. Prior to SMU, Daniel spent five years as the director of athletic development for the NBA‘s New Orleans Pelicans, following a season on the staff of the San Antonio Spurs.
Daniel is a 1988 cum laude graduate of Washington St., where he was an All-Pac 10 First Team pick and an Academic All-American.
